Job offer
Well I got that elusive job offer right after posting my last entry. I'm not even happy about it. I'm not happy because two major things are more than likely going to cause me to have to quit.

The first thing throwing a wrench in things is I have to wear business attire. This wouldn't be a problem if I had some extra money to buy a few outfits. As of right now I only have a few outfits that even come close (and I can't mix and match to get more) to being acceptable business attire. I've also only got one pair of dress shoes and they are almost worn. I can't afford to buy anything.

The second thing is my Mom's van (which I would have had to use for a bit before getting my own car) will not start. It's been sitting in our driveway dead for a couple of weeks. I don't have the money to fix it.

I just hope I can figure out the clothing issue and can find a way there (walking in the morning won't be so bad, but I refuse to walk across town alone in the dark).

I also hope it isn't a hard job that frustrates me because I started bawling at the drop of a hat. My crying is not something I can help either.

Maybe I should just decline the offer and keep looking for something near my house.

I don't know what to do.

Awww...I hope everything works out for you! I think you should give this job a try. Don't worry about the clothing issue, everyone knows that people can't just buy things over night. They know that you need to get a few paychecks under your belt first, if your boss has a problem with your clothes, just tell him/her that you don't have the money right now, but after you get paid, you will buy more appropriate attire. I really don't think it's a big deal.

As for the van...maybe someone could come pick you up at night...I don't walk around by myself at night either, so I completely understand!

However, I think you need to at least try this job, you will never know how it will go if you don't try. And don't worry, you will be fine. When you start getting overwhelmed, just take a few deep breaths or go to the bathroom for a few minutes, I've done both of these plenty of times and they do help.

Good luck!!

My not having any clothes was a big problem. The office is a strictly professional office (which I can understand). Even after a few paychecks I wouldn't have been able to afford new clothes. After paying all my bills each month I'd only have about twenty dollars (five dollars a week...YIKES!)to spare each month (can we say thank God I still live with my mom?) and after paying for gas (once I got a vehicle) my guesstimate was that it would take me approximately three months to buy each new article of clothing. I'd go to Good Will, but around here they never have my size. u_u

As for not having a vehicle that pretty much put the wrench in my getting the job. Like I said walking there wouldn't have been a problem, but the job also entailed being an errand person. Without a car I couldn't do errands. Even if I didn't have errands to run and only needed a ride at night it'd be pretty much a crap shoot. I couldn't ask my Grandpa because I know he doesn't like to drive in the dark if he can help it, my Step-dad is always away on business, my Dad is often off somewhere to take pictures for people, and my Mom's work schedule is so hectic she mightn't be able to pick me up until hours after work for me was over.

I really wanted the job (because I knew I could do it and I think I have a nice phone voice ^_^), but I'm not going to let this get me down. There are a few more positions open in La Porte and I will just put my application in for those. I figure if I save up the money and buy at least a week's worth of professional clothes I'll be good to go to try another 'business attire' job.

Thank you for the luck.
